Competitions

Filmit 2022: (organized by the EDB NET Section: ). There are different categories, including: fiction, documentary, one-minute film, film poster design competition there are no limitations regarding the number of group members. A maximum of five groups per school can join. Contact STR if interested.

Dental Video Competition: Produce a 1-2 minutes video promoting dental hygiene (Feb – April 2022). Contact STR if interested.

Building, Civil Engineering and Built Environment Photo Competition: For students in Forms 4-6 only. Contact STR if interested.

Stories on Stage Audio Drama Competition 2021/22: . Students will collaborate on writing an audio drama script based on a short story and then create an audio recording of themselves performing an audio drama. Schools may enter up to three teams in the competition. Each team must have two to four students. It includes workshops and a competition (January to May 2022; Entry Deadline 27 January). Speak Up – Act Out! On Air! Improvised Drama Competition 2021/22: Students work in teams of 4 to 6 to create and perform a 4-5 minute radio drama on a given stimulus. According to the social distancing measures in place, teachers can arrange team practices in a face-to-face setting or online setting via video conferencing. Teams are strongly encouraged to use improvisation techniques in the preparation of their radio dramas. Entry form deadline: 15 October; Final deadline: March 2021). Contact STR if interested.

English Sayings of Wisdom (SOW): Several competitions (details to be announced later; contact STR if interested.), including:

  • A Moment in Time (Nov 2021 – Feb 2022): A creative design competition inviting students to capture a special moment which illustrates the meaning of a SOW related to positive values by taking a photo or creating a 2D artwork and writing a short description about it.
  • Poetry Remake Competition (Jan – Apr 2022): A writing and art competition which engages students to create a 2D artwork based on one of the selected poems and write an artist statement to explain the message and techniques used in their work
  • SOW Creative Singing Contest (Feb – Apr 2022): A creative singing competition in which students compose songs and lyrics on positive values and attitudes, and perform their songs individually or in groups
  • Time to Talk Public Speaking Competition: (Mar – May 2022): Application deadline: 30 November
  • A school-based activity week staging a variety of English learning activities which reflect schools’ unique focus(es) and initiatives in promoting positive values and attitudes
